What standard do you aim for?

WCAG 2.2, level AA. Before each release every page is checked automatically for text contrast, a name on every control, landmarks and heading order, and again at phone and tablet widths for touch targets and sideways scrolling. Automated checks do not catch everything a person meets, which is why the last section of this page exists.

Can I use the studio without seeing the preview?

For the order, yes. The preview of the print is a picture, and its description says what it shows: whose note, the ink, the ground, the sheet and the line beneath. What the threshold drops is also said in words, as a share of the faint ink the studio can see, beside the red marks. The studio cannot read the handwriting itself, so the description does not say what the note says.

Can I order with a keyboard or a screen reader?

Yes, from bringing the note to the payment page. Every choice in the studio is a labelled button, slider, swatch or field you can reach with the Tab key, and each colour swatch has its name. Payment happens on Stripe's own checkout page, which Stripe builds and maintains.

Does anything move?

Only the progress line while the paper is lifted, and not if you have asked your device to reduce motion: then each step's name changes in place and nothing slides.

Where does it still fall short?

• The handwriting is a picture, on screen and on the print; nothing reads it aloud.
• Trimming the edges is done with four sliders, not by dragging a frame on the photograph.

How do I tell you something does not work?

Write to support@painted.app. Say which page and what happened, and what you were using if you know it: the browser, a screen reader, a magnifier.
